Along with being the month of the long weekend May
was also a very festive month in Deutschland. I went to two of the biggest
fireworks demonstrations that I have ever seen in my life, that's right,
even bigger than Sky show VII. The first one was in Bonn, the former
capital of West Germany and birthplace of Beethoven, and the second
was in Düssledorf the capital of Nord Rhine-Westphallia.
Matheui and I went to Bonn for and AIESEC reception
weekend, which involved going to the 'Rhine on Fire', which is one of
the biggest fireworks displays in Deutschland. It also involved visiting
the Haus der Geschichte der Bundesrepublik Deutschland. It means the
House of History for the Federal Republic of Germany. It was definitely
worth a look!

It is the finest and most informative museum
that I have ever visited. Five floors dedicated to the post WWII
history of Germany. It is set out in Chronological order, so you
start at the bottom, directly after WWII, and work your way up to
the present, or at least to the tumbling of the Wall. It has special
'black rooms' which show the dark past of Germany during this period.
When you enter these rooms, some of them a bit disturbing, your
spine tingles. I will definitely visit there one more time before
I leave Deustchland.

The problem with the Bonn fireworks was that
it had been raining all day, so we couldn't watch it from a park
nearby because it was too muddy. Instead we watched it from a bridge,
with a few thousand other people. Afterwards we went back to the
AIESEC office and continued our party..
